You can race on any smooth surface that's not too fluffy or Gritty, so avoid outside on the street, or in Grass or Medium to Long Carpet, The cars have small components and the fibres and grit can tangle and damage the cars. The best surface of all for racing is the Kyosho tracks they provide good fun and soft kerbs to avoid damage. they make a small one http://www.kyoshoeurope.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=8703 and a Large one, http://www.kyoshoeurope.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=8705Same fun layouts but different width of track. Answer :
Your Mini-Z is quite easy to maintain, we recommend to remove the wheels and the the axles regular and check for fibres and dirt, clean with a soft brush, make sure bearings and bushes are clean and lightly oiled, Use a soft brush around the motor and gears and using a dropper add the smallest amount of light oil on the motor shaft where the pinion is fitted and the opposite side, but don't over do it or you will clog up the motor internals. Check the suspension shafts move freely and clean as required.
