Boots BRCA Hat trick hands him title

Elliott Boots put in another mesmerizing drive to win at the 3rd two-day national, held at the Westmill track north of London. With the sunny weather arriving just in time for the Olympics, washing away memories of months of rain Elliott Boots led the final from start to finish, initially closely challenged by defending Champion Darren Bloomfield who would slowly drop back but the only drive able to keep Boots honest. The four round two-day format is new for 2012 and looks to be in favour, with exciting racing provided by the classic Xmas tree style format, indeed the semis were peppered with future stars, giving their older counterparts something to think about!

Lee Martin, fresh off his 2WD win in Austria was happy with how his Mugen was handling and spent most of the race in 3rd, fending off a late challenge from Associated's Neil Cragg. Neil looked quick in his semi, but a few mistakes here and there pointed towards a podium pace but ultimately not one that would challenge for victory. But his late challenge on Lee was great to watch as the pair raced side by side entertaining the crowd.

With Elliott excelling at this track, Bloomfield was running 2nd comfortably and it was WC pitman Dave Spashett who took the decision to try and stretch his penultimate leg by two laps in order to avoid the late splash n' dash Darren (and Elliott) would have to face. This time, risk didn't reward and Darren ran out of fuel 6 corners from the loop and dropped back to 4th, handing Elliott a two-lap lead over 2nd place Lee Martin, Neil would finish 3rd, Darren 4th and travelling Frenchman Jerome Sartel took a strong 5th with Willetts 6th, Mr Nemo Hazlewood 7th. Graham Alsop took 8th a lap back followed by Tony Truman, Karl Jackson, Simon Reeves, Craig Drescher, Mike Cradock and Reece Sawyer. Its win number 3 for Elliott and the Championship who will be heading to the Euros in Austria full of confidence, potential and speed.
