BRCA MID SOUTH REGIONAL ROUND 2 REPORT

BRCA MID SOUTH REGIONAL ROUND 2 REPORT

Brief report..
This was the second round of the Mid south 2wd regional series and it took place at the DMS indoor venue consisting of a medium grip carpet and a few jumps and a table top. The layout looked sensible on first impressions and looked like a nice flowing track for us to enjoy for the day.
I was running the Rudebits KYOSHO Ultima RB5 "DB1" conversion along with Team Boss Tony Evdoka. there were also a few other KYOSHO Ultima RB5 "DB1" 's in attendance after the release of the car earlier in the week.
There was a short session of open practice followed by a timed session for all; the car felt very good on the standard setup I've been using the last few weeks. I decided to opt for short wheelbase to give a little more drive, but apart from that touched nothing else other than tyres. Schumacher Yellow pins were the tyre choice for the rear, and I chose the new low profile cut staggers up front.
As qualifying was FTD nothing was safe until the last round, but my tq from round 1 saw me through (only just) until the last round where I managed to improve my time by a further 10 seconds on a pretty clean run. Tony had a poor last run but his fastest time was good enough to put him 3rd on the grid. Steve Brown qualified 6th and Scott Faulkner 10th running the KYOSHO Ultima RB5 "DB1" for the first time (this was also to be Scott's first regional A final).
In the finals I managed to take legs 1 and 3 securing the win, with Tony having two second places to go 3rd overall. Steve and Scott finished 6th and 9th respectively.
